Professor Fu-Lin WANG
R.Ac., MD (China), MPH, PhD (Epidemiology, Canada)
Dr. Frank Fu-Lin WANG is the President and founding member of Bethune Oriental Medicine Center in Canada (http://bethuneacupuncture.com/en/). He received a Bachelor of Medicine (Clinical) from the Ningxia Medical College in 1982, a Master of Medicine in Public Health from the Harbin Medical University in 1987, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Calgary in 1994. He devotes his knowledge, skills, experience, compassion, and dedication to the cause of integrative medicine and Oriental medicine. His unique approach in medicine combined with his remarkable professional morality has made him a highly respected teacher, practitioner, and researcher.
Dr. Wang works as Epidemiologist, Research and Data Analyst for Alberta government since 1994, and working as a Registered Acupuncturist in Alberta since 1995. He also involves in teaching and research -- served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of the University of Calgary, Visiting Professor of Ningxia Medical University, Instructor for the Acupuncture Diploma Program at Grant MacEwan University between 1998 and 2017, and has over 35 scientific publications, 40+ reports and book chapters, and 60+ academic presentations at international, national and local conferences. He has served for many years in various organizations and committees of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). He is the VP and Executive President of Canadian Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research (www.CICAMR.org) – the organizer for the International Conference of Traditional Medicines on Health and Wellness (www.ICTMHW.com) held in Vancouver (2017, 2018, 2019), the Executive Director of the International Collaboration Center of TCM Clinical Research in Canada – an organization of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), Board of Directors of the Acupotomy Medical Association of Canada (www.amacanada.ca), and served for the Board of Examiners of Acupuncture in Alberta and several committees of the Acupuncture profession in the past.
Dr. Weidong YU
TCMD, R.Ac., MD (China), MPH (Belgium)
Dr. Weidong YU, a Chinese medicine doctor, graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1983, earned a Master in Public Health from the Medical School of the Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 1991. Dr. Yu has practiced both Traditional Chinese Medicine and western medicine at Binzhou Medical College Hospital, and also worked as an Assistant Research Fellow at China Academy of Chinese Medicine in Beijing – the top institute of TCM research in China. Dr. Yu has praticed acupuncture and TCM in Belgium, the United States and Canada. In 1997, Dr. Yu founded the Wellspring TCM Technology Institute and the Wellspring Clinic for Holistic Medicine (https://tcmrp.com/) in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Yu is also the author of more than 30 publications in both Chinese and English medical literature, and lectures internationally.
Dr. Yu is a specialist in Chinese medicine for ocular fundus diseases. His clinic is one of the few specialty clinics specializing in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa overseas - has served patients with retinitis pigmentosa from 46 countries, such as Canada, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Israel, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Greece, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, India, New Zealand, Serbia, South Africa, Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia , Iran, Brazil, Colombia, Dominica, etc.
Dr. Yu was the former President of the British Columbia Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Practitioners (ATCMA), currently is an Executive council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), an Advisor of the WHO Acupuncture Clinical Guidelines, Board of Directors of College of TCM Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (https://www.ctcma.bc.ca/), Vice President of the World Association of Chinese Medicine Physicians, and the Chairman of the Springwell Charity Foundation. He is and the Deputy Director of the WFCMS International Collaboration Center of TCM Clinical Research in Canada. He is also the advisor of the Canadian Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research.
With training in Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and public health, and particularly in solid understanding of the TCM theory of Five Movements and Six Qi, Dr. Yu, in November 2019, has predicted a possible outbreak of Yi Bing in Spring of 2020 – an early warning. After an in-depth and systematic study on the etiology, pathogenesis and development of this epidemic, he put forward the "five lines of defense" principle for the prevention and control of the epidemic. He advocates that Chinese medicine should be involved in the entire course in the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic by strengthening the body, promoting wellbeing, reducing the incidence, slowing down the disease progression, and promoting clinical recovery.
Dr. Liguo ZOU
MD ( China )
Dr. Liguo ZHOU, well-known expert of Acupotomy, has rich knowledge and skills in TCM clinic with about 50 years of clinical, teaching, research and management experience. He currently is the Executive Deputy Director of the Acupotomy Specialty Committee of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), President of the Acupotomy Medical Association of Canada (www.amacanada.ca), vice chair of the Acupotomy Specialty Committee of TCM Research-Promoting Association of China, deputy Director of the Acupotomy Specialty Committee of Beijing TCM Association, Director of Haikou Xingguo Acupotomology Institute, President and Chief physician of the Haikou TCM Hospital for Shoulder Neck Pain and Lumbocrural Pain, and President of the Hainan Guoshuai medical investment company.
Guided by and worked with Professor Huanzhang ZHU, Dr. Zou is the co-founder of Changcheng Hospital of Chinese TCM Institute, the co-founder of School of Acupotomy of Chinese TCM Institute, and the co-founder of the Acupotomy Specialty Committee of WFCMS. Dr. Zou worked as Director and Chief physician at Special Wards of Changcheng Hospital for high-rank leaders, council of Expert Committee, and Vice-Secretary of the Acuptomy Committee of Chinese Medicine Association of China, etc. He has made outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the acupotomy profession.
Dr. Zou serves as Deputy Director of the WFCMS International Collaboration Center of TCM Clinical Research in Canada. He is also Honorary President and Professor of the Canadian Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research, and advisor of the International Conference of Traditional Medicines on Health and Wellness.
Dr. Xia CHENG
R.Ac., TCMD, PhD (Acupuncture, TCM), MD (China)
Dr. Xia CHENG holds a PhD in medicine, with specialty in gastro-intestinal and neurological disorders. She practices as a registered acupuncturist and doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Calgary. With over 37 years of clinical experience in Canada and other countries, her practice expended into women and children’s health as well as skin disorders. She worked as a professor at several colleges and universities, has teaching and practicing experiences in China, Europe, and North America. She has translated several publications and is a published author of several TCM works.
She is currently the executive director of the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM, https://citcm.com/) and BodyMind Synergy Health Centre. She also teaches courses to medical professionals as well as offers public education workshops. She funded CITCM in 2004 - now the largest and most modernized acupuncture education facility in Canada. At the new home, CITCM not only provides acupuncture, massage and TCM career education but also host a beautiful clinic where she and her colleagues are practicing and help many people to restore and maintain their health and wellbeing.
Dr Cheng has always been actively involved in advancing the acupuncture and TCM profession, she served as a council member of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA), and currently is sitting on the board of the Federation of TCM Colleges of Canada, the vice chair of Canadian Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research (CICAMR), co-chair of the International Conference of Traditional Medicines on Health and Wellness (www.ICTMHW.com) held in Vancouver (2017, 2018, 2019), and the Deputy Director of the WFCMS International Collaboration Center of TCM Clinical Research in Canada.
Professor John J.H. LIU
R.Ac., PhD (TCM Oncology), M.Ac., MD (China)
Prof. LIU pursued his studies successively from Nanjing, Shanghai and Zhejiang Universities of Chinese Medicine before coming to Canada. He has more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching and research in China and Canada. He is immensely adored and respected by his patients and students for his passion and sense of responsibility for the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
He developed the unique Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Combined Target Treatment method for the treatment of tumors and cancers. His research was funded by the highest scientific funding association in China - The National Natural Scientific Foundation of China.
John acts as a guest professor, teaching classical TCM literature for Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition to publishing more than sixty research articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topic of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, he has also contributed to many books on the subject.

Professor Shusheng TAI
TCMP, R.Ac., PhD (Pharmacology, Japan), MD (China)
Dr. Shusheng TAI earned his Bachelor and Master degree of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from Nanjing University of TCM in China, and his PhD in Pharmacology from the Kumamoto University, Japan. He worked in the Department of Medicine and the Cross Cancer Institute of the University of Alberta. He has studied, practiced and taught TCM since 1980. He works as a researcher, supervisor and instructor at the Canadian Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research (http://www.cicamr.org), and TCM colleges in Vancouver, co-chair of the International Conference of Traditional Medicines on Health and Wellness (www.ICTMHW.com) held in Vancouver (2017, 2018, 2019), Secretary-in-General of the WFCMS International Collaboration Center of TCM Clinical Research in Canada, Executive Director of BG Acupuncture at Burnaby (https://www.bgacupuncture.com/), BC, and Visiting Professor of Nanjing University of TCM. Dr. has over 40 scientific publications and 9 books/book chapters.
Dr. Tai is a registered acupuncturist and TCM practitioner in BC, Canada. He learned some special techniques from his folk supervisors in the therapy of pain syndrome, skin diseases, sleep disorder, gynecological diseases, digestive diseases, respiratory diseases, “3-high” syndromes (blood pressure, sugar and fat), tumors, etc. He wishes to learn more from senior TCM supervisors and other practitioners, and to get more suggestions and feedbacks from clients and their families. Martin Wang Ph.D.
Dr. Wang has been actively involved in phytopharmaceutical and nutraceutical products research and development in the past 30 years. Currently, he serves as R&D Director at PLC Health Solutions Inc. and Secretary-General of the Alliance of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine of Canada (AACMC).
Upon immigrating to Canada, Dr. Wang continued with his research and food/natural health product’s ingredient analysis by spending many years working with U of A research centers and accredited independent labs in Edmonton, Alberta. He was a QA/QC Manager in Labs-Mart Inc. focusing on laboratory operation and quality accreditation from 2013-2015. In 2007-2012, he served as R&D Director and was accountable for regulatory affairs at Pegasus Pharmaceuticals. In 2005-2007, he was a Research Associate at Cross Cancer Institute, University of Alberta and was a Senior Analyst in Division of Food and NHP, ALS Laboratory Group, Edmonton. Previously, Dr. Wang held positions as an Associate Professor in School of Pharmacy, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; and served as Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Centre for Quality Control of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Wang is extensively involved in drug discovery research from screening natural products as drug candidates to translational studies of investigational drugs as well as formulation, pilot-scale development, chromatographic fingerprinting profiles of finished botanicals, and quality control.
Dr. Wang has also been experienced in regulatory affairs with strong knowledge of Canada NHP licensing and US FDA botanical drug IND or dietary supplement as well as China SFDA new drug applications.
Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Natural Products Chemistry from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in 1997. He then took a postdoctoral position in Institute of Natural Medicine, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University (now University of Toyama), Japan in 1998 and an industrial postdoctoral fellowship in Jinling Pharmaceutical Company, China in 2000. Dr. Wang has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 3 china patents of new botanical drugs.
Jia Kevin Lu, PhD., D.TCM
Kevin Lu graduated from Guangzhou University of TCM in double-major of TCM & acupuncture with degree of medicine and PhD. in acupuncture science. He started practicing TCM and acupuncture in Vancouver since 2004 and teaching TCM and acupuncture courses in Western Canadian Institution of TCM and Acupuncture and currently at International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Vancouver. During the last five years he has given presentations and talks in public libraries, community centers and radio programs on philosophy, medicine and science. Dr. Lu is currently the president of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists Society, former vice-president of ATCMA (Association of TCM and Acupuncturists of BC) and former board member of CACRA (Canada Anti-Cancer Rehabilitation Association). Dr. Lu is specialized in treating chronic pain and autoimmune disorders using acupuncture and herbal medicine. His doctoral degree study is on acupuncture treatment for autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and related diseases.
Dr. Jiulin Wang, MMed, R.Ac. R.OT
Dr. (Joe)Jiulin Wang has both MD and MSc. Degrees in TCM from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he was also a faculty member. He has received manual osteopathic therapist designation from the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada in 2020, honoured with distinction.
Dr. Wang has taught TCM/Acupuncture in many universities from China, US, and Canada. Currently, Dr. Jiulin Wang is an associate professor and past chair of the Acupuncture Program at Grant MacEwan University. He is also a founding member of Bethune Oriental Medicine Center, a largest Acupuncture/TCM clinic in Alberta, where he provides private TCM/Acupuncture service to the public.
Jiulin is dedicated to biomedical research. He finished two terms of post-doctoral fellowship training in the Neuroscience Department of Louisiana State University and Oregon Health Science University, USA. He has partnered with the Pulmonary Research Centre, University of Alberta, to finish an Acupuncture research project on COPD. As strong background in neuroscience, Dr. Wang focuses his clinic and research interests on pain management and mental health. He has published more than 30 professional papers and books. Jiulin has been invited to deliver both professional and public speeches all over the world.
Dr. Wang has been an expert reviewer of ICD-11 TM code and Chinese medicine Terminology invited by World Health Organization (WHO). He has been sitting on three professional journals as an editorial board member in the past 10 years.
Since 2001, Jiulin has been an active member of the Acupuncture and TCM profession in Alberta and Canada. He has served as interim council of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA) from 2007. In 2010, 2012, 2014, he was elected as a CAAA council member, serving as secretary and treasurer separately. Currently Dr. Wang sits on conduct and competence committee in CAAA, and vice president of Alliance of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine of Canada (AACMC).
Santao Wang，R.Ac., B.Med.
WANG Santao, registered acupuncturist in Quebec, Ms. Wang earned her bachelor’s degree from Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a double major in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Chinese Pharmacology.
Ms. Wang is a board member of the World TCM Forum, Deputy Secretary General of Acupotomy Medical Association of Canada, Vice President of the Alliance of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine of Canada, a council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine, a council member of the 3rd Board of Specialty Committee of Dermatology of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and a board member of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Quebec.
Ms. Wang has been engaged in clinical work for over 30 years, practicing Chinse medicine and acupuncture as well as clinical teaching. She has published several research papers in national and provincial academic medical journals and participated in the writing of academic books. She has also founded a Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic.
Chun Xia Zou, Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.), M.Sc. in Life Sciences
Chun Xia Zou is a Registered Acupuncturist currently practicing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. With a solid foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine and extensive research experience in Western medical science, she is dedicated to integrating TCM principles with modern scientific approaches to serve the health needs of her patients.
Ms. Zou received her Master’s degree in Life Sciences in 1998. She received formal training in biomedical sciences and education in China and immigrated to Canada in 2002. She subsequently engaged in long-term scientific research in the field of molecular biology and medical sciences, focusing on major conditions such as cancer and inflammation. She served as a research associate at the University of Alberta for over a decade and has authored 17 peer-reviewed scientific publications in respected international journals in the United States, Canada, and beyond.
From 2018 to 2021, Ms. Zou studied acupuncture at Reeves College in Canada, where she completed comprehensive training in TCM theory, meridian acupuncture techniques, and clinical skills. She is fully licensed by the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA).
In clinical practice, Ms. Zou is known for her gentle, detail-oriented approach and individualized treatment strategies based on TCM pattern differentiation. She has extensive experience treating: Pain management, Women’s health, Emotional disorders, Insomnia and Cosmetic acupuncture.
Patients consistently describe her care as “effective, compassionate, and thorough,” and she has earned numerous 5-star reviews for her treatments.
Ms. Zou continues to pursue advanced training in techniques such as motor point acupuncture, cosmetic acupuncture, special needle techniques, and herbal medicine. She is also actively involved in promoting TCM through community outreach and volunteer work, including participation in major events like international traditional medicine conferences.
Over the years, Ms. Zou has received valuable mentorship at the Bethune Oriental Medicine Centre, particularly from Dr. Fulin Wang. His generous guidance—in both clinical skills and professional ethics—has played a key role in shaping her growth as a compassionate and skilled practitioner.
Looking ahead, she hopes to further advance the integration of Chinese and Western medicine and contribute to scientific research in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, enhancing their modern-day value and application.
